If you’ve been considering trying out ads on TikTok… Now’s the time. From what we’re seeing on our end, costs are crazy low and the platform is not nearly as saturated as Facebook and Instagram.

However, in order to have success with TikTok ads, you need to have really strong creative. Unlike Facebook and Instagram ads, you can’t run static image ads – everything is video on this platform. And to top it off, professional-style stock video just doesn’t cut it on here. In order to get a proper feel for what style creative will work best, spend an hour or two scrolling through the platform as a user. You want your ads to blend in as best as possible.

 

Is TikTok Just for Teens?

No. The demographic of the platform is getting older and wider every day. It’s definitely a great place to target Gen Z, but 31.3% of its user base is aged 40 and over.

 

How do I get started with TikTok ads?

The platform says it itself: “Don’t make ads. Make TikToks.” This means your ads should have a really user-generated feel. No stock videos with text overlay here.

If you don’t know where to start, find a seasoned creator to help you out with video production.

 

What kind of budget do I need for TikTok ads?

TikTok used to only allow big-budget brands to advertise, but now anyone can join in on the fun (and profits). Look to set aside at least $1,500/month in ad spend to run a campaign on TikTok.

 

Do I need to do trends to run TikTok ads?

Definitely try to incorporate trends into your ads so that they don’t feel like ads. The best ads don’t. Spend a half-hour or so scrolling through the platform and familiarize yourself before you get started on anything.

 

Do I need to dance to run TikTok ads?

Not unless you want to. In fact, if you don’t want to be on video, you don’t have to. You can find a content creator or micro-influencer to film your ads for you!
